Emerging Lunacy (Satire)

22 Sep

The ministry team at Surgir Locura (formerly First Baptist Mennonite Church before converting to Emergent philosophy) donned pantomime regalia and performed a dynamic equivalence interpretation of 2Corinthians 12:7 to the tune of Poison’s rock-n-roll ballad Every Rose Has a Thorn… No one in the audience understood let alone gained any benefit from the dramatic display, however, the church was able to find a use for the white gloves they purchased for the handbell choir in 1968…

“No one in the audience understood let alone gained any benefit from the dramatic display,”

You fundies just dont get do you? Its NOT about “understanding” or “gaining” its about the faith journey and also about old rock bands. In fact I am thinking about the old rock band journey and how much they kept my faith journey alive with inspirational hits such as “dont stop believin”…

    [I couldn’t help myself]

Thanks, Flee. I caught your sarcasm. Yes, it is about the journey but the journey many are on today is the highway to hell that will land them on the banks of the river Styx… Visit anytime. Thanks again.

How many roads must a man walk down?

      It’s a journey, man!

so true. I remember seeing a poster that said its not about the destination but the journey…. with a guy lost in the middle of the desert. Couldn’t describe the ec any better.

Yes, these guys are ‘dead ringers’ for some dolts I have seen before on video clips of emergent showground churches… It would be funny if it were not true.

I’m sure it has been tried in the US. Many churches here do anything under the sun except preach!

Thanks, Simon, for being a regular visitor and commenter.
