Over a half-century ago, Donald Grey Barnhouse, pastor of Philadelphia’s Tenth Presbyterian Church, gave his CBS radio audience a different picture of what it would look like if Satan took control of a town in America. He said that all of the bars and pool halls would be closed, pornography banished, pristine streets and sidewalks would be occupied by tidy pedestrians who smiled at each other. There would be no swearing. The kids would answer “Yes, sir,” “No, ma’am,” and the churches would be full on Sunday … where Christ is not preached.

    Very well done, my friend. Too many folks think that the devil is only in Heavy Metal music, human sacrifices, Quija Boards, and other self-evident items. The scenario you paint is much more deadly and much closer to the truth. Many years ago while the church was “going deep” into prophecy conferences and identifying potential candidates to be the AntiChrist, the cancer that has killed churches in America was being cultivated right under our noses. The true Church lost it’s focus and was left behind without even leaving the building…

    I read this before a moralistc society where people think they have it made, that would indeed be deadly, as it is we can see sin for what it is, what if you could not ? you would see no need for repentance, all you would see was how you coul “live your best life now” to quote Joel Osteen.
