Strung-out Relevance (Humor)

That was a wonderful rendition of “Livin’ on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi for Sunday’s service but did you remember to use drop-D tuning, Lass?

Give me the old, old story anyday. Who’s Bon Jovi anyway? out of touch with stuff not in the Baptist Hymnal.

Thanks, my friend, for weighing in. I also love the hymns.
In America, the hymns are gone except for a few small congregations here and there. Rock bands have replaced choirs and FM-style rock songs with a “Jesus” or “God is love” thrown in between lead guitar solos have replaced the hymns.
Even some folks in the ministry will snarl when you mention hymns as if they are the reason for all manner of diseases! Why? Probably because America is apostate. Sound doctrine is not tolerated in many places.
It is a sad state of affairs here, my friend. Thanks for enjoying my humor/satire attempts. This stuff is not really funny but I get people’s attention this way.

Actually we love hymns too. We are indie song writers, but havent done much the past few years because of my husbands health. I am going to make one last CD soon. It will be nothing but hymns, respectfully and reverantly done. I am tired of 3 lines and an overly repetitive man centered chorus being “praise and worship”. I, I, I, me, me, me is not cutting it..lol..Thanks again..

Thanks. I live near Indianapolis! (ha ha, I know what indie is).
But seriously, thanks for your comment. I like new stuff as long as it is substantive which sounds like your position as well. You are correct. The “glorify my own name” stuff is not appropriate. I like old & new songs that are good, solid songs.
I hope your husbands health improves and that you can record again soon. Do you release your own stuff exclusively or write for other as well? What name(s) do you record under?
Thanks again for visiting. Stop by anytime.

We are on CDBaby under Bill Campton and Susan Campton. We do our own stuff exclusively (no one else does them) and include traditional mountain hymns, songs we write and traditional hymns. I am more folk and he is blues/rockabilly. On my albums are more sacred songs. The CD’s on there are older and do not have as much spiritual music as the last one we recorded which was shortly before Bill’s health became an issue. You probably have my email addy, since we need it to post. If you’d like a copy of it..called “The Gospel” I’ll send you one Truth..just send me an email with a good address. I’ll be happy to send you one..no charge..
We are starting the new album next week. It should be released around October and I am looking forward to it. .Blessings
. Yours in Christ..Susan
